BP "Top Kill" Might Actually Be Successful?

bp_oil_1500_6668_666801gm-a.jpg
Dare we to hope? The federal government's top oil spill commander (yes, apparently such a person now exists) Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen has said that the engineers who attempted the "top kill" have succeeded in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf.

"The pressure from the well is very low, but persistent," he said. "We'll get this under control."

Once the pressure is at zero again, engineers will pump cement into the hole to stop it up completely and, hopefully, permanently.

Now, it's great to hear someone be positive about this for a change, but after all the lead-up and failure, can we actually believe it? Crossing fingers, toes, etc., etc. If this does work, does it mean we have to stop hating BP?

Naw. After all, plugging the well is just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.
