Tensions are running understandably high and everyone is on alert. Sunday, the NYPD bomb squad was called to a questionable SUV parked near the American Museum of Natural History on 79th Street and Central Park West.

As of 2:45 p.m. EST, the New York Post, CNN and the New York Times have no coverage of the scare.

The Daily News reports, in an update marked 1:47 p.m.:

Officials said bomb technicians had yet to determine whether the black vehicle parked along Central Park West contained anything sinister.

The initial report that flashed across police scanners was eerily reminiscent of last week's failed car bomb in Times Square.

The SUV reportedly had a white circle on it.

UPDATE: Well, then.

"It's a misunderstanding," BMW driver Martin Birkmann told the Daily News after cops re-opened Central Park West following the 90-minute scare. "I was test driving it."
