Danielle Staub, Real Housewife of New Jersey, Now Authentically Trashy with Self-Leaked Sex Tape
Just as you probably could have guessed, of the various iterations of Bravo's brainsucky Real Housewives series -- which includes New York, Orange County, Atlanta, and soon, D.C. -- it was New Jersey which has now produced the most authentic "Real Housewife" of them all: Danielle Staub, who's a divorcee with a fake name, eight felony counts and a plea deal, a past as a hooker, and now, a sex tape scandal that is apparently of her own making.

See, in Orange County, the Rich Republican Moral Majority frowns on that kind of thing as declasse. In Atlanta, it's just un-ladylike. In D.C., it's only expected of your about-town political husbands. And in New York, it's only expected of your about-town cokehead teenagers.
Ah, but New Jersey -- the Dirty Jerz -- seems intent on cementing its place in pop culture as the less savvy, more brutish cousin to New York's more calculated, savvier ways. This will not do anything to help that perception. Via Guest of a Guest, poetry in censored-bar motion:
Danielle is sort of uncomfortable to watch on Real Housewives of New Jersey: she's crazy to the point that we sort of feel like she shouldn't be on TV, but like, seeking help or something. Wonder if the camera guys feel as uncomfortable filming her as we feel watching.
Ah, but the twist, via The Atlantic of celebrity gossip, Us Weekly, another Jersey housewife chimes in:
Laurita Tweeted late Tuesday: "Heard from a VERY reliable source that D released her OWN sex tape. Heard it's disgusting. Such disregard 4 her kids. I feel horrible 4 them"
Call it a new low, or call it a new standard, when Bravo has its own stars leaking their own sex tapes, the apex has been rounded. Also, I'd rather drink the water in Tijuana than I would in New Jersey, or at least the part where Staub lives. Also, remember this as one of many moments when you explain to your children how the world trended towards the way it is.
