Police Seek Catwoman

A woman wearing a cat mask has been on something of a mission, stealing from stores in the East Village and Queens -- most recently the Arche shoe store on Astor Place and The Body Shop in Forest Hills, reports the New York Post. She was caught on video at Arche, where she browsed for 45 minutes and then donned a cat mask (her timing seems to negate the point of a disguise, but maybe she just feels more comfortable that way?) before passing a note to the worker at the shop that read "Give me the money. I have a gun." She made off with $86.

At the Body Shop, she simply wrapped a black scarf over her head and stole $500. Which would seem to prove that people are still shopping at The Body Shop, despite what you might think.

The woman is described as 5'6" and 115 pounds, "possibly Middle Eastern," and since she doesn't always wear the cat mask (and probably won't after she sees herself in the Post) your best bet is to keep an eye out for someone with an alabaster chin and wide mouth who smells like a fruit salad.

Also, we'd just like to point out that Catwoman was originally "a whip-carrying burglar with a taste for high-stake thefts," which we're pretty sure don't include comfort shoes or face wash, but ever since she and Batman broke it off, she just hasn't been herself, it seems.

Wait a second, Andrea Peyser, is that you?
