The Longest Day of the Year is Almost Over
Has today absolutely sucked? Did it start as a complete wash sometime before you got your coffee? Or was it during your commute, right before work? Or a little after your boss yelled at you for the first of what will inevitably be many times this week? Well, that's because it's The Longest Day of the Year. Literally. 
Via Time Magazine, in case you didn't already know why today felt like it was going so slow -- it is! -- well, now you know:
June 21 marks the Summer Solstice, the day when the hours of sunlight are longest in the year. The solstice occurs when the earth's axis is most inclined toward the sun, a date which corresponds with June 21. In the southern hemisphere, today marks the winter solstice -- as the days begin to grow shorter here, they'll grow longer there as they approach summer.
HA. Suck it, Madagascar. Unless you're the type who both enjoys sunlight but hates their daily routine. In which case, life proceeds to suck for you as usual. In which case, you should probably just buy a bottle of red wine on your way home, don't touch anything, proceed straight to your kitchen shelf where you keep the corkscrew, open it, start drinking from the bottle, and listen to this miserable Pete Yorn cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing In The Dark." You might feel better.
