Vampire-Playing Actor Maybe Sort of Distantly Related to Guy Who Inspired Dracula Character

Vampire movies and real life... Where does one stop and the other begin? Reporters desperate for another Robert Pattinson headline (see "R. Patz Sports Sweaty Pits" in 2008, and...yesterday) have dug deep into the fascinating and soulful family tree of the guy who plays Edward and uncovered a long-ago historical link to Vlad the Impaler, the Transylvanian fellow cited as the inspiration for the main character in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

O.M.G.!

Apparently this connection is based on distant relationships to the British royal family, which Vlad and Patz both have -- as do, we feel sure, some 6o million other people in the U.K.

Still, it's nice to see that geneologists are keeping up with the times.

"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight Saga," said geneologist Anastasia Tyler. "Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life -- making his story just as supernatural as the one he's playing onscreen."

Turns out that George W. Bush and John Kerry are also distant relatives of Vlad, which means they may be related to each other, and to Robert Pattinson. Movie about that, please.
