Police Seeking Witnesses in Attack of Riverside Park Jogger

The NYPD is looking for witnesses to a robbery and assault that took place in Riverside Park at 6 a.m. on July 5. A 19-year-old woman identified as a Columbia University affiliate was jogging near the tennis courts at West 120th Street when an unidentified assailant pushed her into a wall -- causing her to strike her head and lose consciousness -- and stole her iPod. She was found unconscious on a park bench by a passer-by, who called 911, and treated at St. Luke's Hospital for bleeding from the brain, a fractured cheekbone, and lacerations to her face, head, and neck. Anyone who may have been in the area or has any information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
