Study Revealing the Health Benefits of Staring at Boobs Is, Sadly, an Urban Legend
For some reason this weird German study from 2009 is making the rounds, and it would be irresponsible not to bring it to your attention after reputable sources Roger Ebert and Slate both tweeted out its wisdom. Basically: Research says that staring at women's breasts is good for men's health and makes them live longer! Praise be!
This study supposedly presented 200 healthy men with the challenge of either looking at boobs daily or not (life as the control group sucks) over five years in three Frankfort hospitals. And, it was authored by a woman, so it must be true!
According to Dr. Karen Weatherby, a gerontologist and author of the study, gawking at women's breasts is a healthy practice, almost at par with an intense exercise regime, that prolongs the lifespan of a man by five years.She added, "Just 10 minutes of staring at the charms of a well-endowed female, is roughly equivalent to a 30-minute aerobics work-out."
Cause, you know, the blood gets pumping!
Alas, despite certain organizations reporting it as fact, this hilarious study was not printed in the New England Journal of Medicine or any other medical journal. In fact, it is said to be a slight reworking of a piece that's been around since 1997, which is, like, when urban legends were born! Remember the one about the girl who found herself in a bathtub of ice with no organs after prom? Her name was not Karen Weatherby, either.
