5 Alarm Blaze: NYC Firefighter Busted with Bundles of Hydroponic Chronic (Weed)

"Smoke weed every day," singer/rapper Nate Dogg once famously encouraged listeners. And so it goes: marijuana smokers are a-plenty in America, and of course, in our city. And who better to know how to control the "sparking up" of a bowl of Five-Borough Bud than one of the Fire Department of New York's bravest? Apparently, one of them grew 100 marijuana plants in the basement of his Queens cheba hut.

The New York Daily News reports on the firefighting dank dealer:

[Patrick] Murray, a seven-year veteran of the FDNY, is also a reputed member of a notorious gang called "The Master Race" which is heavily involved in marijuana growing and trafficking, according to court papers.

Interesting. "The Master Race" actually sounds like a much better name for a strand of "the dankness" rather than a crew of weed growers who get busted. Unfortunately, the law is throwing the "endangering kids" smackdown on Murray, who has every reason to be very, very paranoid of how much jail time he's going to get, no matter how strong that weed was:

Patrick Murray was not only running an illegal drug operation, but he was also endangering three young kids living above the drug den, exposing them to harmful fumes from powerful chemical fertilizers and carbon dioxide gas, said Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Soumya Dayananda.

As they say, this one might be "cashed." Not exactly the "blaze" of glory you'd want to go out on as a firefighter, now, is it? Well, now it's known: Queens Kush is in short supply for the time being.
