Jersey Cat Killer Admits to Crimes

What is it with violence against cats recently? Yesterday, Daniel Mann, 31, admitted to killing two cats at the Monmouth County SPCA, where he worked. One cat was fatally thrown to the floor, and the other was found strangled.

Mann has pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree animal cruelty, a charge for which the maximum sentence is five years in prison. The guy's been arrested before, for burglary and resisting arrest in 2004.

The crimes took place in the room where cats waiting for adoption recover from surgery. Mann's co-workers actually saw him throw the first cat headfirst to the floor, making him pretty suspect when the second cat was found strangled. Neither cat was marinated.

Mann, whose beard/short hair combination just screams "scary cat killer," will be sentenced in November.
