• The Muslim cabbie stabbed by a passenger says he's still glad to be a New Yorker: "I feel like I belong here," he said. "This is the city actually [for] all colors, races, religion, everyone. We live here side by side peacefully." Meanwhile, friends of accused stabber Michael Enright say he's a drunk obsessed with shell shock -- not a bigot. [NYP, NYDN]

• One million more have been displaced by flooding in Pakistan, with a total of almost 17.2 million people significantly affected and 1.2 million homes destroyed or badly damaged, according to the U.N. [AP]

• Jimmy Carter will return from North Korea today with Aijalon Gomes, the American imprisoned there since January. [NPR]

• Governor Paterson was found to be "misleading" when he said he'd intended to pay for tickets to the World Series last year. The Albany County district attorney will determine if he will be charged with perjury. [NYT]

• Nearly half of all New York City restaurants undergoing the city's new sanitary inspection process have gotten A's, and 31 percent have B's. Eat out with abandon. [NYC.gov]

• $4 million in debt, the Cipriani corporation may have to sell off inventory, fixtures, kitchen equipment, and even recipes to pay what it owes to Capital One. The bank plans to hold an auction on September 7, which the Ciprianis say they will sue to block. [NYP]

• Levi Johnston, who recently filed paperwork to allow him to run for office in Wasilla, would like to take back his apology to Sarah Palin. "The only thing I wish I wouldn't have done is put out that apology," he said in an interview to CBS, "'cause it kind of makes me sound like a liar. And I've never lied about anything." [NYDN]
