Of all the things you have to worry about! Now it's heading over to your favorite spot for a nice, quiet steak dinner, parking your wheels outside, savoring your delicious meal, and finally, returning outside to find your transport disappeared. Such is the case for a recent 68-year-old patron of the Palm Too steakhouse at 840 Second Avenue, who found himself the victim of a not-so-daring motorized wheelchair heist.

Sometime between 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, just between the first and second courses, we imagine, our victim's motorized wheelchair/scooter -- a blue-and-black Jet 3 Ultra made by Pride -- was stolen from the sidewalk where he'd left it.

Here's what a Jet 3 Ultra looks like.

The thief is described as a Hispanic or white man, 25 to 30 years old, 5'8"-5'10" and 160-170 lbs., with short, dark hair. He was wearing a blue shirt, light-colored pants, and white sneakers.

Okay, we know wheelchair theft isn't funny, except, it kind of is, especially if you picture the thief evading the cops on his Jet 3 Ultra. But seriously, folks, this is grand larceny. If you've seen the man or the scooter, or the man on the scooter, call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). Its owner would like it back. And if you own a motorized wheelchair/scooter, keep it under lock and key until this villain is apprehended.
