NYC's Proposition 8 Rally in Foley Square: Video
The Village Voice's Steven Thrasher was in attendance at a rally in New York's Foley Square last night where some 200 folks gathered to celebrate yesterday's ruling that California's Proposition 8 is unconstitutional. There, civil rights attorneys Yetta Kurland and Todd Fernandez read key sections of Judge Vaughn Walker's decision.
Here is Yetta Kurland reading the final conclusion: "The court concludes that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional."
Todd Fernandez's growing excitement in this clip: "California has no interest in waiting, and no practical need to wait, to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples," honestly made us a bit weepy (in a good way), and we've got cold hearts, as you know.
Yay, indeed.
