The "Ground Zero Mosque" Imam and "Blood On the Hands" of America: A Lesson In Contextual Spin
Conservative psycho (hottie-cougar: me-yow) Pamela Geller's at it again, this time, trying to show the world how the guy behind the not-at-Ground-Zero-and-not-a-mosque project Park51 is telling everyone how America has "blood on its hands," putting the image in people's heads of a keffiyah-sporting, AK-47-rocking sleek Arab developer spouting off about the end of AMERRIKKA while he plants his Victory Mosque right where his "boys" helped kill a bunch of 'infidels.' What a scoop! She even got it on the top of Memeorandum! Except, she's lying. How?
ATLAS EXCLUSIVE! GROUND ZERO MOSQUE IMAM FEISAL'S EXTREMISM EXPOSED: IN HIS OWN WORDS: "THE UNITED STATES HAS MORE BLOOD ON ITS HANDS THAN AL QAIDA," ELIMINATION OF ISRAEL, THE N-WORD, "FAHRENHEIT 911"
And what did Imam Feisal Rauf, the "architect" behind Park51 actually say?
"We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaida has on its hands of innocent non Muslims. You may remember that the US-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was Secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it.
Uh, he's not wrong. Most of Iraq's population? Islamic. How many civilians did we kill there? Anywhere from 97,362 to 106,246, according to Iraq Body Count. 4,735 coalition troops died in Iraq, a war, of course, that was explicitly tied to anything but an attack on America. In Afghanistan, where al Qaida actually is? 2,024 coalition troops dead. Of course, there's no point in getting Geller to come up with the math that shows more innocent Americans died at the hands of al Qaida than innocent Islam-practicing-civilians at the hands of U.S. and/or coalition forces, but that's another story. So are Rauf's other remarks, like:
"The truth is that killing innocent people is always wrong and no argument or excuse no matter how deeply believed, can ever make it right."
Which he wrote, in his book, which is published. The point is that Geller took a great headline, took a great quote, and took it wildly out-of-context to serve her cause. These are tell-tale signs of a good blogger and an even better liar, so at least we know she's getting the job done. As far as being an honest voice in the clusters of information she fires at salivating, hate-filled denizens ready to purport their own religion in front of someone else's goes, though, not so much. For being such a self-ascribed patriot, the only American Liberty she's really standing for here is that of which she takes with the truth. Also, she had noted sociopath John Bolton write the forward to her book, so there's that, too.
