Brooklyn's "Jersey Shore"-Inspired "Brighton Beach" is Really Coming to Your TV

Rumors of a Brooklyn-based show, Brighton Beach, doing for Russians what Jersey Shore has done for Italians, were not just talk. Lifetime has ordered twelve episodes of the reality program, the Daily News reports, with it set to air next year. Hopefully robot cars will have killed us all by then. If not, at least it's on Lifetime and will not interfere with Teen Mom. (The soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets, though, are probably thrilled.) Do you think we're actually doomed?

There's still a chance this could all fall through:

The show does not appear to have begun filming, as the production company turned to Facebook for suggestions on hot Brighton Beach "banyas, stores, restaurants, delis, parks, bars, clubs," for them to include in the show.

As for this, words are hard to find: "A Korean-themed reality show is reportedly in the works, as is a show called 'Party Down South,' focused on the Southern party scene." No exaggerated ethnic subculture is safe.

See ya, Snooki! Lifetime orders 12 episodes of Russian 'Jersey Shore'-style show: 'Brighton Beach' [NYDN]
