Faisal Shahzad, Would-Be Times Square Bomber, Sentenced to Life in Prison
Faisal Shahzad's sentencing today for attempting to blow up a bomb in Times Square resulted in, as expected, a life sentence, which should be surprising to no one since he'd already pleaded "100 times guilty" to 10 counts -- including attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted act of terrorism transcending national boundaries, adding up to a total of more than 6 life sentences -- back in June. 
After hearing the sentence, Shahzad said he would "sacrifice a thousand lives for Allah," that "war with Muslims has just begun," and that "the defeat of the U.S. is imminent, god willing."
Meanwhile, Judge Mirian Cedarbaum said, "You are capable of education, and I do hope you spend time in prison thinking about whether the Koran gives you the right to kill innocent people."
"I am happy with the deal that God has given me," said the 31-year-old Shahzad (reportedly smiling) after the sentence was handed down. Which is yet another thing he'll have a lot of time to think about while in jail.
