Paladino Refused Gay-Bashing Campaign Manager's Resignation Twice

Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino's campaign manager Michael Caputo offered to quit twice after the fall out from Paladino's now notorious speech, which Caputo co-wrote, about "dysfunctional homosexuals." Both times the candidate rebuffed his aide's offer, according to the New York Post. Andrew Cuomo, meanwhile, is doing a lot of smug grinning, probably.

The Post reports:

Carl Paladino's equally fiery campaign manager twice offered to quit following the anti-gay stump speech that left even the candidate's family offended -- but the Republican nominee for governor refused to take the resignation.

Michael Caputo tried to quit Thursday -- less than a week after the controversial speech drew widespread criticism from both sides of the political aisle.

But Paladino insisted that he stay with him.

The paper notes that the "political firestorm" has thrown Paladino's campaign "into a tailspin," meaning that in less than three weeks the resignation should handle itself.
