Tiger Woods Cigar Guy Revealed as the Humble Rupesh Shingadia

It's lightning striking twice, in one photograph: Daily Mail photographer Mark Pain snapped a shot of a Tiger Woods chip an instant before it smashed into the camera lens. (See the full photo after the jump.) But in the background, along with a grimacing Woods, is the man who would come to be known as Cigar Guy (pictured right), an instant internet sensation. It's not just the cigar, mustache, wig and facial expression -- it's the whole package. And now, after thousands of hilarious Photoshops made him a hit, the Mail flexed their journalistic muscles and tracked down Cigar Guy.

But first, the photograph, an instant classic:

His name is Rupesh Shingadia, and he's a 30-year-old investment analyst, living with his parents in South London. His costume was a reference to Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez and yes, Shingadia knows he's famous on the internet.

Rupesh confirms: "I have never done anything like this before. I'm just an ordinary guy who loves golf and follows Arsenal. If I had known the incredible reaction it would produce, the way that Cigar Guy has snowballed, I would probably never have put on my costume. That said, I'm glad it has put a smile on people's faces."

Currently single, he was unaware of the marriage proposals delivered via Facebook.

For the record, the man's favorite Photoshopped picture is the one of him with the Simpsons.

"It's difficult to understand the situation because it has just been thrust upon me. Some people spend years craving this kind of attention but to me it happened by accident. It's just bizarre," he told the paper. "But I'm still expecting to go to work next week. I'm not expecting it to change my life in the long term." Probably a good bet.
