Jimmy McMillan Sells Out, Officially; May Be Able to Pay Rent (Video)

Jimmy McMillan, the "Rent Is Too Damn High" guy and surprise "star" of New York's recent gubernatorial debate, has about an iceberg's chance in hell of getting elected tomorrow, but he doesn't seem too depressed about that. We mentioned recently that he'd been offered an endorsement deal from an online auction site called BidHere.com. Apparently, he's taken them up on the offer. McMillan reportedly got $10,000 for this, which introduces the "Pay Your Rent for Pennies" auction, which starts tomorrow, and plays a bit like a farce and a bit like a really bad ad. He also gets to throw his favorite catchphrase around a lot, linking the rent being too high to people being unable to pay for digital cameras and iPads and laptops and whatnot -- which, in this day and age, is just as important as feeding your children.

Of course, McMillan may not pay rent at all, which would mean he can have his digital equipment and feed his kids, too.

In other news, his album, The Rent Is Too DAMN High (Volume 1), will be out tomorrow -- yep, Election Day -- on iTunes and other sites. (Sneak preview!) And there are talking Jimmy McMIllan dolls. Yay.
