MSNBC to Sub-In for Olbermann With Nation Editor Chris Hayes...Who Should Also Be Immediately Suspended! (UPDATED)

• I think it's time we turn to <i>Philadelphia Daily News</i> columnist Rue McClanahan for the final ruling on this one.

• I agree with Ann. MSNBC will lose me as a review if they dont bring Keith back.

• I am not a fan of Olbermann. His commentary, while succinctly delivered, are, more often than not, extremely biased diatribes that reflect his own far left leanings. I think most of the country refuted these viewpoints last Tuesday. Many times he is outrageous especially when lambasting President Bush who only recently has been the target of all that is wrong in our country. Get over it, Keith, Obama has been in office for 22 months and it's time to direct that BS towards him. Olbermann never delivers a guest with an opposing view. Just fellow travelers like Hayes, Maddow and other journalists with similar points of few. That said, as both NBC and the rest of us know, his show is a point-of-view show. Commentary and not the "neutral", nightly news reportage that Williams delivers. As others have stated, this is not a revelation for NBC. Therefore, to his defense, Olbermann does not claim to be neutral journalist and, as much as I disagree with him and his manner of presenting his viewpoints, he should be allowed to contribute to any candidate he choses. That is or should be the right of every American, including anchormen. For that matter, if you cannot trust anchormen to deliver unbiased news, then fire them. As for Olbermann, he should return to sports coverage and commentary. He's great there.

• Keith was the best of MSNBC, without him you don't have much. The other people as Joe, Chris, Andrea are so obnoxious they are hard to listen to. Unless you bring Keith back you will lose a lot of listeners. Your numbers will drop further.

• Could not have happened to a more obnoxious and biased commentator. Get rid of the rest of the liberal morons on MSNBC and maybe you will get some ratings.

• Brian, Hayes is a freelance employee, and therefore could reasonably be subjected to the same standard that Richard Wolffe -- another freelance employee -- was when he was suspended for his conflicting fiscal interests. And the logic behind your second point is a little flimsy: Because I neglected to call out Every. Single. Person in violation of ethical platitude X, I'm employing a double-standard? This is an item about one network's policies, not news across the board, nor is it a preachy indictment of a practice.

• If you want to argue that MSNBC is applying a double standard in replacing a suspended employee with a private citizen who has done the same thing that drew the suspension, you are at least able to make a rational argument. It requires ignoring the essential fact that Hayes is NOT an employee and thus subject to MSNBC's ethical standards, but at least you can logically construct that argument. On the other hand if you're taking the position that contributing to political candidates makes a person unfit to serve in broadcast journalism than YOU are employing a double standard in failing to also call for the heads of everyone else in a similar position who has done so, such as Sean Hammity.
