Derek Jeter Re-Signing With Yankees, Duh

After a bluff from both sides, with New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman telling aging shortstop Derek Jeter to "test the market," number 2 and the Evil Empire are said to be coming together on a three-year contract worth between $45-51 million, with "a complicated fourth-year vesting option, the terms of which will also determine the salaries for the first three years," according to the Daily News. It's more or less the same three-year deal the Yankees offered initially to the Yankee legend who is now 36 and struggled last season, the worst of his career. No one actually thought this could work out any other way, and now the tabloids will have to put something else on their covers. [NYDN]
