Williamsburg to Get Even More "Normal People" Things, Like...a Movie Theater!

Williamsburg is getting a multi-screen, multi-level, mainstream movie theater of its own, planned for a currently vacant lot at Driggs and Grand. According to the New York Post, developer Blue Zees Real Estate will spend $9.3 million on the 850-seat multiplex in a neighborhood that's lacked "a movie house screening blockbuster films" since 2002.

The IndieScreen Cinema, which hosted the Brooklyn International Film Festival, opened on Kent at Metropolitan back in June, but this new theater will have six screens to play all of the newest and most mainstream of releases -- think Harry Potter and Men in Black 3 -- perfect for watching while you chow down on all of that candy you bought at the Duane Reade.

Cue the gentrification soundtrack!
