Before the great snowstorm of 2010 got started, Lower East Side artist Olek, who really can crochet anything (cars, bikes, baby bikes, people), managed to crochet the Wall Street bull. Which would have made him a nice warm coat for the snow had city officials not ripped it away in less than 2 hours. Poor bull.

Bowery Boogie has an email from Olek in which she explains of her year of knitting inanimate (and some animate) objects:

I started it with a bike and ended up with the Charging Bull as a Christmas gift to NYC and a tribute to the sculptor of the bull, Arturo di Modica, who in another guerrilla act, placed the bull on Wall Street in Christmas of 1987 as a symbol of the "strength and power of the American people" following the 1987 Stock Market crash.

She also hints at "many wonderful surprises" to come. Statue of Liberty? Or Lloyd Blankfein? Either would look good in purple, we think.
