New Yorkers Eating Worse, With More Denial; Sidewalk Sinkhole on Delancey; Fires Break Out in East Village

New Yorkers (and Americans in general) are eating worse than they think they are, according to a new Consumer Reports poll. 90 percent said their diets were healthy, and yet ate a bunch of crap. And then there are those of us who know full well our diets are not healthy. Two slices of cold pizza and coffee does not a day make. We're working on that. [NYDN]

Injured stunt-double Christopher Tierney from the Spider-Man musical says he "can't wait to get back to the show" and that he loves "being Spider-Man." He also, after falling more than 30 feet in front of his audience and suffering a fractured skull and shoulder blade, four broken ribs, and a broken vertebrate, does not blame the producers. • A building at 4th Street and 2nd Avenue was evacuated early this morning due to a fire in the Village Farm and Grocery. Seven residents were treated for smoke inhalation. [The Lo-Down, which has video]

• A second major fire has been reported at 505 East 6th Street and Avenue A, where there are some 20 trucks on the scene. It may have started in Eastern Bloc. [EV Grieve]

• A section of sidewalk collapsed yesterday on Delancey Street, revealing a giant, ominous hole. It's now been surrounded by a protective barrier. [Bowery Boogie]
