Bill Murray Shoved a Stranger Over Football

Legend has it that Bill Murray is a weirdo. In one version of the infamous, widespread Bill Murray story, a kid is in Manhattan's Union Square late one night when someone comes up behind him and covers his eyes. When he turns around to see who it is, he notices it's Murray, as in the famous actor. "No one will ever believe you," the graying oddball says. And so on, with varying locales and strange behavior, but the same punchline. Today, a new one is added to the canon, but this time with photographic evidence.

BlackBook, home to a great Bill Murray profile, has the new tall tale today, via a friend who says he encountered Murray the NFL playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. The storyteller was rooting for the Packers in the Chicago stadium. Apparently, Murray really likes the Bears:

During the 2nd quarter, Matt celebrated a considerably good play on the part of Green Bay with the usual hootin' and hollerin' reserved for such moments. That's when he was blatantly shoved from behind. Turning to catch a glimpse of his assailant, he discovered his pusher was none other than Bill Murray, a huge Chicago Bears fan, who was unapologetically enjoying the moment.

The image above is supposedly of Murray laughing at his own violence. And the actor went on to insult the jersey of the Packers fan: "Nitschke is a pussy," he said, of Green Bay great Ray Nitschke.

You can believe it or not, but at least read the whole thing here.
