There's a joke about "man bites dog" here that I'm not quite coming up with, but yesterday a fox managed to shoot its would-be hunter in Belarus. It escaped and the guy landed in the hospital. A prosecutor was quoted as saying that the fox "fiercely resisted and in the struggle accidentally pulled the trigger with its paw." Accidentally? Also, who was the prosecutor prosecuting here? The ashes of Carlos Castro, the Portuguese journalist who was murdered in a midtown hotel allegedly by boyfriend Renato Seabra, were poured down the subway grate at W.44th St. and Broadway yesterday. Which, don't worry, he wanted to have happen. His funeral was held yesterday in Newark. [Gothamist via NYP]

Miss Nebraska, a 17-year-old high schooler named Teresa Scanlan, has been crowned the winner of the yearly trip back to a less enlightened time called the Miss America pageant. [CNN]

More Tunisia news: the military has arrested two officials with connections to former president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali; according to the Times, "the implication of the arrests was that the two officials had been behind some of the violence that has taken place in the country since Mr. Ben Ali's departure on Friday."
