Homeless Man Has the Perfect Radio Voice

Ted Williams, a homeless man in Ohio, may very well be famous yet. In the above clip from the Columbus Dispatch, Williams is shown panhandling on the side of the road. "I have a God given gift of voice," read his sign. "I'm an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times. Please!" He's not joking about the voice.

Williams explains that at the age of 14, in his native Brooklyn, he took a field trip to meet a local radio announcer. "He looked nothing like what he sounded like," says Williams, who remembers the term "theater of mind," which the man used to describe his talent. Williams said he worked and went to school to train his voice, knowing full well he could never be an actor. Unfortunately, "alcohol, drugs and a few other things" derailed him.

Now he's hoping for voice-over work and it's up to the internet the spread his sample. It sounds like a sweet enough story until you actually hear the man do his thing -- then it's amazing. Seriously, give him a chance!

I give him a lot of credit for trying to stand up on his own two feet! Wishing him best of luck -- and yeah that voice is great!

Which raises the idea the next time you look at a homeless man, don’t be surprised if he or she turns out to be an ex astrophysicist or derivatives trader, although something tells us the average person probably has more sympathy for someone who’s voice can make you melt in the snow. Not that sympathy ever mattered in America…
