Joe and Linda Naimo, Staten Island Elderly Couple, Lick Wounds After Vicious Mugging
While an elderly Staten Island couple tries to recover from a vicious assault last Sunday, the man and woman who did it are still on the loose. Cops say Joe Naimo, 81, and his wife, Linda, 75, were near their thrift shop, 3J's Variety Store in Tompkinsville, at 7:55 p.m. on January 23 when a man and woman came at them from behind and knocked them down. The man punched and kicked Joe, and demanded, "Give me the money." The couple's son, Rocco, 49, heard the ruckus from his upstairs apartment and ran to their aid. He was punched in the face and knocked down.

"The guy used his hands, I think," Joe told Jeff Harrell of the Staten Island Advance. "And he just kept on hittin' and hittin' and hittin'. He was hittin' me in the chest and everything, and he ripped my pants. I think he had intentions to really beat us up, or kill us. What an animal."
Joe Naimo, who has owned the store for half a century, was already missing an eye and nearly blind in the other. But he managed to give cops a description.
Before they could do further damage, they ran off down Victory Boulevard with Joe's wallet and $18 in cash.
Meanwhile, Linda Naimo had been punched in the face; she suffered a fractured skull and broken nose, among other injuries.
The male mugger was described as black, about 6 feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie. The woman, also described as black, was shorter and plumper; she was wearing a dark hoodie with fur around the collar.
The NYPD is offering a $12,000 reward for info that nails these perps. Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips at nypdcrimestoppers.com or text info to 274637 (CRIMES), entering TIP577.
