Mega Millions Numbers Make Many Lost Fans Winners

In Lost, Hurley's numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) win him a $114 million jackpot, but then haunt him for the remainder of the show, showing up in all sorts of creepy places, most notably an old computer where a button must be pushed to "save the world." In real life, the numbers are worth $150 this morning because the giant Mega Millions mother-load ended up going to the numbers 4, 8, 15, 25 and 47, with the Mega Ball number 42 -- in other words, just two figures off from the famous Lost sequence. And people said being an obsessive fan of a television show would never get you anything! Add this sci-fi occurrence to all those dead birds and we've got ourselves a hell of a New Year.

As for the $355 million jackpot, two tickets matched exactly, purchased in Idaho and Washington, CNN reports. But then there's this fine print:

If you played Hurley's numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42), you won $150, according to a payout table on the Mega Millions website, though the same table noted that fixed prizes such as the $150 one "may be paid on a pari-mutuel basis and (be) lower than" that amount.

So your luck is still sort of rotten. But at last you're not stuck on a time-traveling island! (Yet.)
