Mike Bloomberg Congratulates Self on Snow Response
Where was Mike Bloomberg last night? Not in Bermuda! Nope, reports Bowery Boogie: He was taking photos at a Rangers game! That's cool, though, because he'd already called a weather emergency. And, guess what? The city rocked the snow handling, big time! At a press briefing today following the 9 inches of snow we got over the night, Bloomberg said, via the Daily News, that the city did WAY better this time. ![]()

In fact, "I think the city's response for nine years [and] 70-odd storms has been exemplary," he said. "Things did not work in that one storm."
The Observer points out that this go-round was seen less as a wholesale "redemption" than just a chance to do better. Which happened, even though snow levels were not quite the same. In fact, we hear that the snow was so minimal as to have prevented a [rumored] group of topless dancers (née strippers) from taking to the streets to show people how to shovel.
Oh well. There's always the next time to do it better.
UPDATE/CORRECTION: Via DNAInfo, the strippers showed, only to get ushered back inside by the cops.
The NYPD reminded the troupe from the Cheetah Club -- who wore stilettos and unbuttoned jackets revealing nothing but bare skin underneath -- that Times Square was a now a family neighborhood.
Again, there's always next time.
