Rachelle Hruska is On Her New Age Health Nut Game

The new Prozac.
Rachelle Hruska, founder of social gossip party site Guest of a Guest, is on some next-level Scientology-type new age shit. This morning she took to Twitter to stand up for cashews and niacin in place of antidepressants, and to scold Runnin' Scared paterfamilias Foster Kamer.

Food Matters is one of those things that tells you that if you, like, eat kale or whatever, you'll never have a cold again. I think.

Did you know that Vitamin C overdoses can cause nausea and mouth ulcers?

At this point Foster was like, what? Because I'm pretty sure that cashews are not the same as Prozac.

Buy some damn cashews, Foster. And everybody else, stock up on niacin. Never mind the flush.

Ok. everyone settle down. I am realizing that twitter may not have been the best place to write this stuff because it's totally taken out of context and makes me look loony (which I admittedly am regardless), and for that I apologize. I do think that ultimately, it's good that people are riled up, because it starts a discussion about our health and health care in general, which is always progress. For the record, I am, categorically NOT a Scientologist. (I was born and raised Catholic though don't practice). I am so un familiar with the "church of Scientology" that I naively didn't even know that these "buzzwords" were buzzwords. I watched a documentary (Food Matters) that was interesting to me for a lot of reasons, beyond just the general notion that a majority of our country eats like shit. I encourage everyone to watch.

The highlight for me was that we are living in an environment where the 3rd biggest killer in our country (after cardiac arrest and cancer) is from prescription medications, and....well there is something going on that needs to be reaccessed. To date no one has been proven to have died from an overdose of vitamins (though there are 10 cases over the last decade where people have made this claim-they haven't been scientifically proven). Millions (literally) have died from prescription meds (and i'm not even including suicide cases). It's a cycle that largely has to do with money. My best friend is a pharmacist in Omaha. Her reaction to me telling her this story (besides cracking up at the absurdity of all of this- me being the neurotic "give me a pill that will fix this" type that she has known me to be), was that her industry is fked and she is so fed up that she is re-evaluating her career choice. She also told me that vitamins are totally safe and that she takes them daily (and that we all should be on Vitamin D for sure). Also, she pointed out that ANYTHING, literally anything that is taken in absurd amounts is going to be bad for you. Water can be the most lethal if you drink too much of it. I have no idea what a scientology detox center is or the practices they subscribe to, but in general, they seem to have lost the plot on this sort of stuff and that is unfortunate for your friend to have experienced, xenubarb. That being said, I do think we need to start moving away from a system where less than 10% of our doctors are being versed in Nutrition, where research studies that support the drug companies wallets are being elevated and studies that do less of that (ie: vitamin c injections in cancer patients), are being hidden from public consumption.

In sum, I think it's important to be aware of everything you are ingesting at all times. I myself have been on autopilot at times (yes, even taken -gasp!-many prescriptive meds for things like anxiety, sleep aids and the like), and yes, I think that they are necessary in certain cases. I would also like to try and be in more control over my body. I would like to figure out preemptive steps now so that I don't end up on 15 pills when I'm 45. I would like every human to show generosity and say "we are smarter than this, something's gotta give, we need to try and figure out some solutions to our health care together!" Which, btw, starts with discussion not name calling. As Fitzgerald said: "The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at same time and still retain ability to function." I truly hope that every MD in our country is of a first rate intelligence.

Also, I have met foster a bunch and the dude is totes full of toxins! (joke.please don't freak out again on me).

Prozac is a Scientology buzzword in the sense that when you tell them you're opposed to the evil deeds of Scientology they'll say something like,"Yeah, sure go ahead and keep taking your Prozac". Typical Scientology redirection debating techniques. People who think that there's something wrong with Scientology destroying lives and families are "toxic" to a Scientologist.

Some of you low life guys sound like you have “Hate Syndrome”. it’s in the DSM Manual. You are to go to your nearest psychiatrist and get ECT with some good volts through your brain and anti depressants drugs so then you can bring yourself to suicide. You may think I’m as low as you bums, but what I’ve stated is the TRUTH.

"You can't take too many vitamins?" Tell that to my friend, who has permanent liver damage from massive doses of niacin given at a Scientology detox center in Canada.

Narconon teaches the same garbage as this moonbat is spewing. How responsible would she be if someone like, actually took her advice and like, y'know, DIED from overdosing on vitamins?

Lord, what an idiot! I am offended that we share the same planet. I'd better go back to clearing it...of Scientology!

"Prozac" and "toxins" are definitely Scientology lingo and buzzwords.
