The snow count is in. We got 9.1 inches last night (according to numbers in Central Park, via NY1). That does not a blizzard make, but it's pretty, for the moment! No major public transport delays, though the MTA has issued a Winter Weather Service Advisory. In related news:

• Public schools are staying open.

• According to the New York Post, "Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North and NJ Transit Rail were all reporting some delays or schedule changes." LIRR is on a reduced schedule, Metro-North is on a Sunday schedule, and NJ Transit asks you to allow for "additional travel time."

• Amtrak is having some problems. NY1 reports that it's suspended in both directions from New York to Boston due to cause of overhead wire damage.

• Area airports remain open, but hundreds of flights have been cancelled, so check before flying.

• Connecticut got as many as 22 inches! (In Connecticut and Massachusetts, some schools are closed.)

• The New York Times reports that this marks a bizarre national weather occurrence in which there is snow on the ground in 49 of the 50 states (all but Florida). Hawaii has snow on one of its volcanoes.

People around the Twitterverse are reporting streets, and even bike lanes, already well plowed. So...was Bloomberg's response (and early declaration of a "weather emergency") better this time around...or did we just get less snow?
