Tom DeLay Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

Texas Republican and former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay -- a/k/a, "The Hammer" -- has been sentenced to three years in prison for conspiring to launder $190,000 in corporate money into a political campaign fund that would have gone to a number of Texas Republicans vying for spots in the state House. DeLay, who was convicted in November, will also serve 10 years' probation. He continues to say that the prosecution is politically motivated and "I can't be remorseful for something I don't think I did."

DeLay was taken into custody, but will be released on a $10,000 bond pending appeal after he's processed, which means he could remain free for months or years as his appeal goes through.

So Obama is just fine looking back, not forward, when it comes to party pettiness and small-time money-shifting, but when it comes to mass murder, torture, and civil liberties erosion, "look forward, not back!" DeLay is flayed, Bush and Cheney have book deals and publicly subsidized robotic organs thanks to the current coward in chief who likely expects the same treatment from the next GOP prez.

Be nice if the Voice had some famous old civil liberties advocate on their staff to chime in on the irony.
