Assange Allegedly Abused Cat
Julian Assange, the founder and editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, is something of a James Bond villain, running around the world trying to bring down governments, sometimes looking dapper, sometimes smelling bad, and maybe sexually abusing women. (It's complicated.) But his creep factor is only going to increase now that a former WikiLeaks insider is claiming Assange "would constantly attack" his cat. The internet will not be pleased!
In a new book, Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World's Most Dangerous Website, Daniel Domscheit-Berg claims that extended his odd ego-maniacal complexes to the animal world, "constantly battling for dominance, even with my tomcat Herr Schmitt." Um:
"Ever since Julian lived with me in Wiesbaden he (the cat) has suffered from psychosis. Julian would constantly attack the animal. He would spread out his fingers like a fork and grab the cat's throat."The "mad Australian" did not always come off best during his stay in 2009, however, with Herr Schmitt sometimes managing to "dispatch Julian with a quick swipe of the paw."
Is this part of an ongoing smear campaign? Maybe. Does it take away from the actual issues at hand, from freedom of information to treason to crimes against women? Definitely. But attacking a cat? That's going in the movie.
