This Is What $10 Million in Heroin Looks Like

New York City police seized $10 million worth of heroin in the Bronx on Saturday. Francisco Ramirez and Andy V. Moscat have been indicted by a grand jury for being part of one of New York's largest heroin trafficking operations ever. The officers seized 18 and 1/2 kilos of heroin (40 pounds) from a duffel bag that Moscat was carrying out of a heroin mill. He tried to flee on foot, but officers caught him a block later without any resistance. Ramirez tried to get away in his car and hit an undercover cop car in the process. When he realized what he had done, he immediately surrendered.

After the arrest, police found out that the apartment Moscat had exited from was a drug processing plant. Inside the apartment, they found one 9mm Beretta handgun with a loaded magazine, approximately $38,000 in cash and a large amount of jewelry, and manufacturing equipment for heroin including steel presses, jacks, forms, chemicals, and respirators.
