Howard Stern Is Really Bad at Twitter

Screen shot 2011-02-08 at 4.28.11 PM.png
Howard Stern joined Twitter last week, probably at the behest of his manager or boss because his account is wholly uninspired. As the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" (seriously, it's in his bio) and the recipient of a $500 million five-year contract with Sirius Radio -- not to mention the enviable authority of a Verified Account -- Stern should be a shoe-in for Twitter fame, considering the medium lends itself so well to raunchy jokes and dominating funnymen from Steve Martin to Kanye West and Conan O'Brien. Even Larry King can kind of pull it off. But Stern's just sucks.

Stern's radio show has the power to single-handedly create a trending topic or Google spike for a guest, but on his own, he keeps falling short. Since February 3, Stern has tweeted 66 times. Maybe he's lost without his writers, or maybe they've put an intern in charge, but the man has yet to make a funny joke. Here are five of the flattest:

Huh?

HS2.png

Wait, what?

HS3.png

Come again?

HS4.png

Err...

HS5.png

Oh, okay.

Desperate for followers, he even resorted to posting "unreleased" modeling shots of his wife Beth Ostrosky. Vintage Stern, to be sure, but sort of sad and needy on Twitter. When the best thing you've done is retweet a Dixie Chick, you've got nowhere to go but up.

Ha Ha. Funny Joe.

Funny thing is. This past weekend E online mentioned how Howard was the first personality to tweet on movie facts as his movie Private Parts was airing on HBO. He tweeted pretty much through the whole movie. I'm sure many actors have done that before...RIGHT

Unfortunately using Stern's name will get this faggot a ton of hits on this article

Seriously? Is this simply meant to stir controversy and draw readers? Have you heard the show? Have you never before experienced satire?

Is this guy serious? Howard has been hilarious and who cares if he's already at 66 tweets, HE'S A TALK RADIO SHOW HOST! Key word = TALK! I can't believe I wasted my time on this article.

What a moronic and uninformed article.

If you actually listen to the show, then you may understand where some of his tweets were coming from. Plus, he calls himself the King of All Media spoofing Michael Jackson calling himself King of All Pop - its very old.

Once again, if you actually listen to his show - no one forced him onto Twitter and he Tweets himself.

Whoever wrote this is a sad and pathetic journalist. What happeneded to journalists researching and writing from fact? All this "article" happens to be is some uninformed guy with a keyboard craving attention. Why don't you do just an ounce of research next time, or better yet, turn the show on for 5 minutes before you make yourself look like a fool again.

You're committing self sabotage by attacking Stern based on comments that you don't understand the context of.

Obviously the person who wrote this article is not a fan of the show and doesn't get these jokes.

Wow. First off some of sterns tweets could be considered show in jokes. Listen to the show and a nonsense tweet has new meaning. Second you have no clue what you're talking about

It is alway funny to read an article written by someone that has no idea about the topic. Anyone with a sense of humor would agree that Stern is one of if not the funniest person on the radio or TV.

It is hilarious that you mentioned "Stern should be a shoe-in for Twitter fame...But Stern's just sucks." when Stern is rising the ranks of Twitter faster than anyone and his tweets are being showcased on many prime time entertainment shows.

Don't bash Howard Stern just because you have an uptight sense of humor. He really is "The King of ALL Media".

Twitter is for A-holes. Why do you spend your life telling everyone what you are doing. We don't care!!!! They don't care. You all walk around with your phones and devices stuck up in your face, checking to see if someone approves of you. Why do you need their approval???

I'm 23, and I don't know anyone who uses Twitter. I have 800 friends on Facebook, and not one of them uses Twitter to update their pages or even attempts to connect with their friends via Twitter. I went to UCLA, and managed to avoid the whole thing during its popularity explosion.

The only people who actively use twitter are 1) teenagers 2) media personalities from radio, tv, and music. These personalities (such as Lady Gaga, Conan, and American Idol judges) almost always employ writers JUST for social networking. Of course everyone else is "out of it."

"Everyone else" doesn't use Twitter.

You obviously don't have a sense of humor so it's no wonder you don't get it.

I think most people suck at Twitter when they first start. If he is still using Twitter this way after a month or so, then we got a problem.

By the way, how do you take snapshots of Twitter messages? I haven't figured that out yet.

Thanks, Kevin Lockett www.soul88.com kazwire@yahoo.com www.twitter.com/kevinlockett

Now THIS is fucking comedy, Joe:

I'm calling bullshit on you here: come on, I KNOW Paul Mooney must have wrote that hysterical observation for you.

Hmmmm. It would be one thing if YOU actually had something funny to tweet, but seeing as though your twitter feed is painfully boring, I suppose I must be at least impressed by your balls and lack of self-awareness.

I like Howard Stern, however I am a great fan of talk radio. Unlike, you anal retentives I enjoy good jokes. Howard is definitely worth the big bucks, because he says outlandish things we are all afraid to say.

In typical lame ass Voice fashion, some hack of a writer slams Stern, because he's is jealous and insecure. Hey Joe, don't ever quit your real job at Walmart.

I cant' believe the crap written in this blog. Nothing like mentioning "Howard Stern" to try and get ppl to read your dumbshit. You should listen to his show none of what you wrote is in close to the truth.

"At the behest of his manager" Uhh no. Howard joined twitter just to read what other people were writing. He got into it and decided to tweet himself."

"the recipient of a $500 million five-year contract with Sirius Radio" Claiming to know what his contract was for proves your ignorance.

"not to mention the enviable authority of a Verified Account" - jealous much?

"Maybe he's lost without his writers" - You mean Benji and Fred? I like how you wrote that like the people that listen to his show have no clue they write him jokes from time to time.

"Desperate for followers" - He was at just under 100k followers in less than 3 days when he posted that. This article is what someone desperate for followers does. Can you say Pot calling Kettle?

I'm guessing you're just trying to draw web traffic by dissing Howard? Talk about old and tired tricks!

Howard's far from "desperate" for followers. He's gotten 160,000 in less than a week.
