Julian Assange Trademarked His Name

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange-1.jpeg
The man behind WikiLeaks, founder and editor-in-chief Julian Assange, has been called everything from a smelly dude to a cat hater, sexual abuser, online dater and, most recently, a bad roommate. But soon some will be required to call him Julian Assangeā„¢, because he's working on trademarking his name in the United Kingdom.

The trademark, applied for two weeks ago, would cover, "Public speaking services; news reporter services; journalism; publication of texts other than publicity texts; education services; entertainment services." The trademark could be granted as soon as May 4, though Assange lists his residence on the application as the U.K., which might not last much longer.

Assange also applied to trademark the name WikiLeaks and its logo, a map in an hourglass, which has been the inspiration for at least one tattoo.

The applications can be seen here and here, via Gawker.
