  • The Libyan uprising has "reached the capital's doorstep": anti-government forces have taken a town 30 miles from Tripoli, the capital. Yesterday, the U.N. approved sanctions against Libya and President Obama said that Moammar Qaddafi should step down. [NYT]
  • Mohammed Ghannouchi, the interim prime minister of Tunisia, resigned on state television today. He has been in charge of the country since former president Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, a close ally, fled after a popular uprising last month. [Al Jazeera]

  • One of the parties involved in this week's voodoo sex ritual gone wrong claimed "he could turn people into ghosts, move buildings, turn people into buildings," according to a neighbor. [NYP]
  • Last night around 4 a.m., a passenger riding in a cab around Union Square got into an argument with the driver, kicked him out, and took control of the cab, crashing it into a light pole. [Gothamist]
