Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Early Spring, as Does Staten Island Chuck

groundhog_day.jpg
This just in: Punxsutawney Phil has not seen his shadow. According to tradition, this means the prophetic groundhog has predicted an early spring as opposed to six more weeks of winter. Just in time for an ice storm!

Did he even bother leaving his hole? Look outside, Phil. You can start wearing capri pants and flip-flops, but the rest of us realists still have to trudge through the freezing rain to get to work.

Yet Phil even has backup: Staten Island Chuck, New York's own meteorologist groundhog, has also predicted an early end to this winter. And no, Staten Island Chuck didn't get pinched in that recent organized crime bust.

Canada's version of Punxsutawney Phil, Wee Willie, didn't have the opportunity to look at his shadow; his event was canceled due to weather. (Those of you who immediately went to Las Vegas to bet on Wee Willie after our post yesterday will have to settle for a push.)

Okay, early spring. We're waiting.
