Twitter Keeps Coy on Google, Facebook and Cash

Rumors that the 140-character microblogging platform Twitter could be acquired by either Google or Facebook have been bubbling furiously enough to garner a comment from Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, though he was careful to not say much of anything at all. "I don't know where these things come from. It's just a rumor," he responded when asked if Google could afford a $10 billion buy. Then he opted not to answer a follow-up question about Facebook as purchasers. In other words, this is totally happening. In the same speech in Barcelona, Costolo was sure to note that Twitter is "already making money," and then his eyes flashed frighteningly with dollar signs. [Reuters, WSJ]
