Charlie Sheen, Wife Beater, Is Now in the Guinness Book of World Records

Did you hear? Charlie Sheen has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest accrual of 1 million Twitter followers EVER. Congratulate him, and you! Because you're following him, right? We all helped make this happen. Oh, about that Charlie Sheen so many of us are following on Twitter, don't forget about his many violent episodes with many different women. He even shot one, once. You didn't know that?

Anna Holmes has a pretty great Op-Ed in the New York Times today called "The Disposable Woman" that you'll want to check out, in between making #WINNING and #tigerblood jokes in Twitter. As she puts it,

Even now -- after Mr. Sheen began carpet-bombing his bosses in radio rants, prompting CBS to shut down production on the show -- observers still seem more entertained than outraged, tuning in to see him appear on every talk show on the planet and coming up with creative Internet memes based on his most colorful statements. And while his self-abuses are endlessly discussed, his abuse of women is barely broached.

Full disclosure: We are not not guilty of laughing about or partaking of the Sheen spectacle ourselves. That's why reading Holmes's piece was a good reminder that the man we've all considered "entertainment" this week is actually one very messed-up person. And an excellent appraisal of why we, by and large, have allowed him get away with it.

it's telling & ridiculous that most no one gives a shit.

Charlie Sheen has a serious problem, drugs,alcohol, beating women to name only a few. His father is just as looney. Charlie needs to get away from his family including wife,kids and father, get a lot of help and maybe he can come back. Other than that we'll be reading about his overdose death one of these days.

Anna Holmes is a broken woman. Anyone that researches a book devoted entirely to break up letters from a woman's point of view is seriously biased/flawed. But then again, it's been proven time and time again that there are also plenty of other broken feminists who will happily eat this stuff up.
