Facebook Imbeciles Think Japan Tsunami Is Karmic Payback for Pearl Harbor

pearltweet1.png
It seems that no disaster is too grave for Facebook's large population of assholes to say offensive things about. The newest thing is that people are taking to their Facebook statuses to say that Japan "deserves" yesterday's tragic earthquake because it's "karma" for Pearl Harbor. It's happening on Twitter too!

These small-minded jingoists are forgetting two things: 1) The U.S. actually dropped two atom bombs on Japan at the end of World War II, killing up to 150,000 people, and 2) There is no such thing as "karmic payback" when it comes to devastating natural disasters. Via BuzzFeed, I've learned that if you go to this site called Openbook.org and search for Pearl Harbor statuses, you'll find a shocking number of them. Click through for some examples.

pearlharbor1.png

pearlharbor2.png

pearlharbor4.png

And on Twitter:

pearltweet3.png
This is a "Top Tweet," by the way.

pearltweet1.png

pearltweet2.png

pearltweet4.png

The kicker is that Pearl Harbor is actually trending in some places. Like New York, for example:

pearlharbortrending.png

Of course, there's a simultaneous backlash going on. This stuff has given people around the world a new reason to hate on America:

pearltweet5.png

More hearteningly, there are a lot of people tweeting something to the effect of, "People saying the earthquake is payback for Pearl Harbor, go die." But that's pretty much the only heartening thing to be found here.

Hahahaha... Japan totally deserves next combo of radiation, earthquake, and tsunami.  Consequence of not believing in god (partly) and being a crappy neighbor to its neighbors covering up their dirty history (even nowadays) and all those ill-willed wrong doings of the Japanese insecurity complex-stricken government and the Uyoku members...Please Japan, go get more people killed~ ^^ banjai~ even the emperor is now radiation-tainted and we soon will see that dude dancing while pissing at the same time, brain-less.

I don't know, I mean no one country deserves tragedy, but the Japanese soldiers were really cruel, sadistic, and merciless in WW2. I'm not even talking about Pearl Harbor, that was nothing compared to what the Chinese endured in Nanking or Unit 713. So you really can't blame war veterans for being angry you can change their memories or beliefs. However, I do think it's unfair to blame the innocent people that died in the tsunami for the atrocities done by their grandparents decades ago. It's time to move on, if people say that the tsunami was karma then I would say the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was enough karma. Pray and help the innocent people that are suffering now in 2011. China suffered way more from japan than the U.S. did and despite the hostility between the two cultures China still sent aid, so stop being a douchebags and think for a change.

i dont think the japanese deserve it but i find it funny people are talking about pearl harbour. what about the forced labour camps, death marches, torture, rape, beheading contests on chinese and koreans and the battle for singapore where pregnant women were bayonetted through the womb in their hospital beds? Just saying, as far as WW2 goes, pearl harbour was one of the least appalling things that went on concerning the japanese.

All I know, as a korean American native, I can't help but feel (disturbingly) indifferent to what happened in japan after how much hell/angst they've put my grand parents through. They fully stripped all Koreans from their culture. Raped/beheaded women as if it was a game. Keep playing games, I mean If all u care about is art peace and sex, one should expect bad luck. I mean look what they did to the Chinese. They sell childrens used panties in vending machines/ obsessed with action figures. Nuff said. Lack of morals, comes with bad luck lol, maybe. I mean we (Americans) fuck up, and now we're all poor. Same thing lol

Just an FYI, Japan has never, till this day, admitted that they were the one who initiated the invasion of Asian during the Sino-Japanese war. The Japanese soldiers have raped many women in Asia and proceed to shove their bayonet up the vaginas and leave them to die. My grandfather was made to dig his own grave before being made to lined up in a row to take a bullet to the back of his head, thankfully British forces intervened at the right time. I'm not saying this is karma whatsoever, and I do feel sympathy and empathy towards what's happening in Japan, afterall, it's the civilians that suffers in the end. But I thought people should remember what happened in the history.

Some Americans on Facebook are claiming that the earthquake in Japan was karmic revenge for Pearl Harbor.

I wonder what the karmic revenge for Nagaski, Hiroshima and Tokyo will be, eh?

Let's do some maths here, death toll in Japan - 10k (not counting another 10k of missing people). Death toll in PearlHarbor: 2k.

So presuming that the "karmic revenge" ratio is 5:1, and if the death toll of the US bombings on civilians duringWWII in Japan was about 280,000... with your logic, 1.4 millions Americans will die in the next natural "karma" disasterto occur in the United States.

So please, shut the hell up you are making your country look pathetic. The earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster inJapan is a tragedy so stop being a jerk and donate.

As a Japanese who has been living in the States for more than 15 years, I am extremely shocked and appalled by some very ignorant comments as I have just seen on this page. This is a natural disaster and people should talk about how they can assist people who are in need of help instead of Pearl Harbor and WWII.

So just you know that Japanese people were extremely sympathetic to the people in the United States during 9-11 crisis - I NEVER heard of anyone who talked about atomic bombs or bad karma etc.... I am a ground zero survivor myself and I am very proud of Japanese people who are currently working hard to rebuild the country.

You just heard what the level of "debate" is on the other side. Various strange toxic eastern beliefs aside (just look at the societies and social structures those beliefs cause) The japanese were yuppie types before there were yuppies. Aggressive, reckless disconcernedwith safety it an "the most aggressive type is the most valuable person'" type society. Its also an "ant Hill" society. The workers go 10,000 RPM till thier early 60's they fall over like worker ants and a 19 year old takes thier place he running at 10,000 rpm till he falls over etc. And theres NO individual identity. The first thing they pound out of you in a "WA" setting is any trace of you as an individiual. You follow the commands from the level just above youand you work as hard as is possible for the cause. Got an alternative idea? better keepsilent. THAT's Japan and a LOT of the east. Easterners are NOT Westerners. Oursocieties, civilizations and social and spritual structures ARE NOT the same.

I am not happy when my country's streets are filled by drugs and Japanese cars.

And hearing all this, I DO want my 70 GTX back........

Now, I think i'll go back to my reading of the American Free Press (published in Washington)

But considering the seriousness of what is happening in japan I feel some appropriate serious music accompaniment is in order. Let's see, Oh! I have it here right here: the New York Classic "Japanese Sandman" by the Cellos.....

Just the lines to express the proper feelings to what is occuring "Rang Tang Ding Dong Raki Saki...."

Beyond that, I guess the best treatse on japan was delivered by Professor at a conferenceat Compton California in I think l962. Its on You Tube in fact;

Just put in You Tube "town Hall Party (Prof.) Wanda Jackson"

She seemed at that early date to exactly predict the violence of the present events in japan....

"you can call me crazy, wild, fast or dumb, but I can cause distruction just like anatom bomb""you can talk about me say that I'm mean..I'll blow your head off baby I'm a nitro-gly-ser-ene..."

Good music, appropriate to the moment, always makes the situation better......

Now that I have some good music on, I'll sit bacck down and continue to read the latestAmerican Free Press (published in Washington) and feel VERY satisfied....

The ultimate truth here is that all Japan wanted to do is to persue its spritual life. It was fully inward turned. Why did we disturb this? Every problem associated with Japan flows from the day Admiral Perry sailed into japanese waters.

This is absolute proof of WHY Washington and a host of America founders and greatestpatriots like Charles Lindburg strongly directed America to avoid foreign entanglements, including the one's we caused.

But that aside, Japan is the original yuppie aggresive type. So if we are looking at thedecline of toyota and even the possibility of the return of the HEMI and the L-88 or thereturn of Gretch to Brooklyn, you hacve to expect dry eyes. And as to what I saidabout experiments on our helpless GI's who were prisoners, Balloon bombs, seedingthe jet stream with deadly germs or the incredible scene of US workers having tolearn and adhere to Japanese rules to keep thier jobs...on US soil!....

Well, THATS why I'm sitting here in Manhattan, reading the latest American Free Press(published in washington) and feeling Very, very satisfied

America-Slavery, Indentured servitude, systematic extermination of American Indians, Near extinction of buffalo, atomic bombs on innocent civilians which has had far reaching consequences for generations, unprovoked war with Spain . . . Just off the top of my head. I don’t believe in Karmic justice or anything of that nature, but anyone promoting it better pray we never get ours. The people who filmed the cove should be arrested for trespassing. If I don’t approve of the type the type of sex you have in your bedroom and trespassed to tape it, I would be persecuted for invasion of privacy. The people who trespassed into the cove to tape something they didn’t approve of should suffer the same. The slaughter of dolphins (which is hardly participated in by the entire country) is no different that Australia's kangaroo roundup, or the same "roundups" several of the States have. The point is to get rid of pests. Dolphins eat Japan's source of food and income (fish)over time, they breed in such great nymbers there would be nothing left for Japan, and it's not strange for a country to combat pests in this matter. Just because Americans think dolphins are cute does not make the (few) Japanese who do this evil.

Bornwithapen

so then by that logic what will americas payback for the following be?

• 3,000,000 Vietnamese murdered over the course of about 30 years of US aggression.

• Well over 300,000 Japanese were massacred when the US raided Tokyo and dropped nuclear bombs on the urban civilian areas of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

• 600,000 civilians were killed in Cambodia by US bombing between 1969 and 1975.

• Over 500,000 people were killed in Laos when America subjected civilians to "secret bombing" from 1964 to 1973, dropping over two million tons of bombs on the country. Over one fourth of the population also became refugees.

• 100,000 people were murdered in South Korea prior to the Korean War by a brutal repression supported by US forces in 1945. This includes between 30,000 and 40,000 killed during the suppression of a peasant revolt on Cheju Island.

• Up to 4,500,000 Koreans were killed from 1951 to 1953 during America’s massive slaughter in the Korean War.

• 200,000 were murdered when the Philippines were conquered by American forces. (This took place just over 100 years ago.)

• 23,000 people were slaughtered in Taiwan by US-backed, trained, equipped, and funded forces (Chiang’s Nationalist Army) during the late 1940s.

• 700,000 Indonesians (mostly landless peasants) were murdered in 1965 when the US armed and supported General Suharto.

• 200,000 were slaughtered in East Timor in 1975 by General Suharto with US support.

• 750,000 civilians were driven from their homes in East Timor by Indonesian forces in 1999 and 10,000 were killed.

• Over 1,700,000 Iraqis have been killed by US bombings and sanctions, mostly women and children.

• Over 1,000,000 lives were lost during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s in which the US used direct force and supported Hussein and Iraq.

• 35,000 Kurds were killed, 3,500 villages were destroyed, and between 2,000,000 and 3,000,000 became homeless as a result of aggression by Turkey with US arming and training in the 1990s.

• Over 1,000,000 people were killed in Afghanistan’s civil war from 1979 to 1992, in which the US strongly supported the Moujahedeen, the most violent and sadistic of the forces. (This also set the stage for the CIA-backed Taliban to attain power.)

• 45,000 people were killed in South Lebanon since 1982 by Israel, always armed and supported by the US

• Thousands have been killed in Palestine and millions (in both Palestine and Lebanon) were made refugees by US-backed Israel.

• Over 150,000 were killed in Greece when America advised, equipped, and financed violent interventions in the late 1940s and late 1960s.

• Over 75,000 civilians were killed and over one million refugees were created in El Salvador from 1980 to 1994 when the US intensely supported the efforts of a brutal regime and its death squads to eliminate a popular uprising.

• 40,000 civilians were killed by the US-backed National Guard in Nicaragua over the course of almost 50 years.

• 30,000 lives were killed by the US contras in Nicaragua from 1979 to 1989.

• 200,000 Guatemalans were slaughtered from 1960-1990s by a military apparatus trained, armed, funded, and assisted by America.

• Over 35,000 Colombian civilians have been killed during the US-supported Colombian war against left-wing rebels.

• More than 4,000 innocent civilians were killed in Panama during the US invasion in 1989.

• Hundreds of thousands were killed by US direct and indirect interventions in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, and Argentina from the mid 60s through the 80s.

• 50,000 Haitians were killed when the US military destroyed a peasant uprising in 1915.

• Between 4,000 and 5,000 Haitians were killed in the early 1990s by US-established forces.

• Thousands were killed in the Dominican Republic during the 1960s when US and Dominican troops crushed a pro-Bosch rebellion.

• Over 3,000 were killed and countless others injured by US interventions in Cuba.

• Hundreds were killed or injured when the US invaded Grenada in 1983.

• Over 50,000 Somalians were killed between 1978 and 1990 by US-supported Siad Barre.

• Up to 10,000 more Somalians were killed directly by US troops during America’s "humanitarian mission" in 1993.

• In the US-supported Rwandan genocide, an estimated 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days in 1994.

• Over 300,000 were killed and 80,000 were crippled in Angola from a US-supported civil war.

• Tens of thousands were killed and up to 200,000 were tortured in Chad by Hissen Habre with US support during the 1980’s.

• Over 1,000,000 were killed during Mozambique’s civil war (1980-1992), in which the brutally violent RENAMO forces were supported by the US

• 1,500,000 were killed between 1980 and 1988 in southern Africa by the US-armed South Africa.

• Thousands of people in Pacific islands, Puerto Rico, Utah, California, Nevada, Washington, New Mexico, and various other places have been killed, infected, or harmed as a result of US weapon experiments (especially nuclear weapons and weapons using depleted uranium).

• Hundreds of civil rights activists have been beaten, tortured, framed, and killed in the US by government agencies in recent history.

• Hundreds of Black Panther supporters and American Indians were framed, beaten, or murdered by the FBI and its cohorts in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

• Over 1,200 immigrants and citizens in America (mostly of Arab decent) were detained after September 11, 2001, without evidence of law-breaking or terrorist activity.

• Thousands have been killed during America’s recent "War on Terror."

• Over 2,500 US soldiers and over 40,000 Iraqi civilians have perished since George W’s recent invasion of Iraq.

I think most people are confuse about karmic effect. The best suggestion for Japan to prevent the disaster from getting worst is too repent and ask for forgiveness for the wrong doings of their forefathers. It is sad to see the innocent younger generation suffering from this disaster.Everyone can pray for them ( that is positive force) but if they repent then it will reduce the negative force( hatred from those who has suffered or died previously). It is between how much of negative and positive force. This is layman and simplistic explanation.

This is all about Karma. Give me ONE good, solid, scientific argument that it does or does not exist. If it is not possible, we should accept that we don't know whether or not Karma was involved, get out of this rut, and go do something good with our lives. Life's too short and filled with huge problems to spend time arguing about why something happened. Just be a kind person and help others. It won't kill you.

How bout those firebombing raids the U.S. conducted PRIOR to any NUKES being dropped on Japan! Just one raid alone on March 9-10, 1945. 267,000 buildings were destroyed and over 100,000 people died from the incendiary bombs and the resulting firestorm. That's more than the initial death toll from the first NUKE we dropped . Not to mention we (the U.S.) conducted these raids from mid February 1945 thru August 10, 1945 killing over 200,000 civilians right in their own homes. Keep in mind we dropped the first NUKE on Hiroshima, Japan August 6, 1945, killing between 80,000 and 140,000 but because that "wasn't" good enough, we Americans dropped another NUKE on Japan but this time on Nagasaki. At 11:01am local time 286,000 people resided in Nagasaki. At 11:02am 74,000 of them were dead, another 70,000 severely burned who would later die. So @AndyGriff85 you pathetic putz, why don't you go Fuck Yourself? And @heytherezach maybe try eating some food before you think so you might actually learn something in class. "The bomb killed men, women, and children indiscriminately. It killed both military personnel and civilians. Although the city produced military items and housed soldiers, it was not selected as a "purely military target" as President Truman had promised. There were six civilians in Hiroshima to every soldier." (Quote: www.world-war-2.info/atomic-bo...

You may know about the retaliation against the Japanese for the Pearl Harbor attack, or maybe very few of you payed attention in school, but know this:

Those American soldiers sent to Japan to assess the damage were not only horrified, many left the military when their service was over and those memories of what they saw still haunt them

Another fact for you who stand to judge:

"By the end of 1945, 140,00 people had died as a direct result of the bombing. Within the following five years, another 60,000 would die of bomb-related causes." (Same source as above)

Was that not more than enough for your blood-thirsty "payback"? Innocents have to die yet again to make you who judge and condemn feel better? And is it a "bonus" to you who condemn and celebrate the horror which is now plaguing the Japanese people, of which only a handful of those who lived through WWII, and worse, who had no hand in the Pearl Harbor attack, die of horrible deaths by and act of nature?

To those of you who say God had a hand in this atrocity not only insult the Christian doctrine of peace and forgiveness (isn't that what your Christian faith believes?), what do you think God has planned for the United States for those bombings? Nothing? Was this disaster "justified", therefore, He will just let if slip by and look the other way?

I am not a Christian; I do not believe in "God"; but those I people I know and most of those I know of who do, would never believe this disaster now facing the Japanese was by God's hand.

I don't believe in "Judgment Day", but if for some weird reason this event does occur, how many of you are prepared to confess your revengeful thoughts on innocents?

And I want a front row seat......see I don't believe in Heaven or Hell and if there are such places, I may go to the latter for judging you who spread hatred, ignorance and prejudice, but I'm good, as one of vengeful people posted above.

Hatred, ignorance, prejudice, malice and murder only bring about the same.
