Jewish Firearms Group Compares Bloomberg Gun Control to Genocide, Nazis

jewishguns.gif
A new inflammatory open letter from the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership advocacy group addressed to Mayor Michael Bloomberg argues that "'[g]un control' actually (and historically) means letting government, whether benign or ruthlessly evil, disarm certain sectors of society and allow others to remain armed." The sectors of society in question, according to the JPFO, have too often been Jewish, going directly against the teachings of the tradition, which tells its believers "that righteous self-defense is not only permissible but an obligation." According to the cited Talmud Sanhedrin, "If a murderer comes for you, strike him down first." The group goes on to compare gun control to Nazi policies and warn of genocide, arguing that Bloomberg is trying to "mimic" leaders like Hitler and Stalin.

Rabbi Dovid Bendory writes:

Additionally, you are no doubt aware that the Jewish people have been at the wrong end of the gun barrel for far too long. America is one of the few countries in the world where Jews are entitled to embrace firearms as the most practical means of our own self-defense. And you would strip us of the right to defend ourselves? With all due respect, Mr. Mayor, this is shameful.

Mayor Bloomberg, have you studied Jewish history? Are you aware that the Nazis disarmed Jews prior to Kristallnacht and that those same Nazi gun laws are the foundation of the U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968? Are you aware that Senator Thomas Dodd asked the Library of Congress to translate the Nazi Gun Control Laws into English for him, and that he incorporated language from these laws into the Gun Control Act of 1968 that he authored? How can it be that you, a Jew, are enforcing Nazi-inspired laws? (See "Gateway to Tyranny")

Tyrants like Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao "pioneered" the bloody trail of "gun control" in the 20th Century. Why do you so thoughtlessly, in effect, mimic the insidious actions of these monsters?

Earlier, the group links to a "Genocide Chart," in which gun control laws are linked to mass killings, in order to demonstrate that, "Without the personal firearm as an 'equalizer,' the stronger will always control the weaker."

Their extreme position also includes this handy handbill:

Bloomberg is another elitist fraud just like Soros, Trump, Clintons, Bushs, Rockefellers and the rest that would sell out their own parents to make a dime or gain power or prestige.   And ya wonder why that Breivik fellow flipped? Very interesting to note that Breivik's own attorney whom started out as an anti-Breivik egalitarian Socialist turned pro-Breivik after reviewing, discussing and researching the majority of the fellows claims had proven to be factually - although not 'politically' - correct... Same is happening here...

Bloomberg is a highly selfish individual. He runs the government like a corporation. He will try to make the government profitable at the expense of hard working people. And in America they are taking away our rights one by one, be it Gun's or be it X-rays in airport. These X-ray machines are quite powerful in order to penetrate the whole body to see if individual is crying any illegal containers. This is a health risk and exposure to heavy x-rays can cause cancer. New York Gun laws have people scared, a person is even afraid to talk to his friends about going to a firing range out of fear of negative opinion or fear of the police. In states like Florida can rent a gun at a firing range and or buy a gun with ought any problems. In NY you need a hard to get pistol license in order to simply be able to go to a shooting range. And its a pain to get too the applicant can be denied for any reason at all. Even if they are law biding, have no mental illness or convictions. I will be trying to apply for a permit using constant gun specialist services and see how it goes.

Would love to get this don just to show Mr Bloomberg that we are living in America and we still have a constitution in this great nation of ours

In 1964, my first wife (now deceased) and I moved to New York. Maralyn had been assigned to her first duty station on Long Island. She was a newly-commissioned Lt. (jg) in the U.S. Navy's Nurse Corps. In other words, an officer in the "Armed" Forces.

Maralyn went to the police department inj Springfield Gardens and asked about a carry permit. The officer asked where she was from. She told him Texas (just graduated from T.C.U.). He said that she should have brought her gun from Texas, carried it, and kept quiet about it. I leave the rest up to your imagination...

We feminists should be outraged that politicians have disarmed women so we are unable to use the only reasonable means of self-protection when we must travel in crime-ridden areas to work or in remote locations for family emergencies. I actually thought the Brady position sounded "reasonable" until I did my homework, and realized they are trauma sufferers who are spreading fear of useful tools because of their own post-trauma reaction. The FBI's 2005 crime statistics clearly show that women have little hope of preventing or stopping a violent attack without a gun. And Ayoob's research demonstrated that just having a gun is a deterrent, with no shots fired 98% of the time in reported "uses" of a gun for self defense. A statistically small number of incidents is used by the press to sensationalize any crime involving a gun. This only encourages madmen to commit copycat crimes to achieve celebrity status. The states with the fewest gun laws are the safest and have the least crime. JPFO is just stating the facts. The real extremists are those who disarm women, as is routinely done in NYC.

I agree with the Rabbi, both my parents survived the Holocaust. My father survived because he was armed. Criminals do not obey the law as the law abiding do, therefore gun control is moral perversion which accomplishes the opposite.

There is no clear cut answers when it comes to crime control as no one can legislate human behavior nor action, gun or no gun. In Japan over 32,000 sucides a year are commited with knives, is that ok as long as no gun is used?

Clearly where there are more legal gun owners there is less crime, so why are the gun controllers want more laws and accomplish the same results.

As a Jew, I'm tired of being held up as a victim who needs someone else to protect us. The Holocaust had been hijacked by the left for too long... There were Jews who fought the Nazis and thousands of Jews and Christians were saves by these armed Partsains. Israel is a prime example of Jews who had enought of being sheep to the slaughter.

Enough of this gun control, how about criminal and terrorist control. They are the ones who disobey the law and those like Bloomberg want us all to be victims. Why are gun sales being approved for gun runners in Mexico? Why are people in the likes of Jared Laughner allowed to bypass laws put in place and purchase guns when clearly he wasn't eligible to do so? Why was Rep. Gifford not protected by local authorities in Arizona even when her office filed numerous complaints with the local Sheriff?

25,000 gun laws and more on the way... Whose lives are being protected?

I am a Jew. Also a certified NRA Law Enforcement Handgun/Shotgun Instructor as well as a competitive shooter. Gun control is people control. No criminal gives a hoot about any gun law, IE., that is why they are CRIMINALS. Enough with gun control, now is the time to have crime control.

If you use a firearm in the commission of a crime, 50 years, no parole, no nothing, just do the time. If you hurt or kill someone using a firearm in the commission of a crime, the death penalty, with no 20 years of appeals. 30 days and you are going. That will solve a lot of the crime.

G-D gave us the right to protect ourselves and we need to take that right back.

If the Declaration of Independance, the Constitution and amendments and the right of self defense is inflammatory and extreme count me in. This screed is written by a historically ignorant person. No surprise since most if not all news people I have met can't see past their key board. Fasinated by thier own words they write for money not content.

But, most of the 20,000-odd "gun control" laws on the books are UNCONSTITUTIONAL, despite what left-wind judges say.

If any group knows the fist of tyranny it is the Jews. Oppressed throughout history, killed during the Holocaust, and struggling for survival today in the only free country in the Mideast. I wonder why so many Jews support democrats and gun-grabbers such as Bloomberg. That aside, all of God's children have a God-given right to self-defense and to defend their love ones and property against criminals and tyrants. Mexico would not be having the trouble it is having now if they had a 2nd Amendment.

I personally agree with much of what the pro-gun folks say in theory.

But in practice, many of these pro-gun folks are scary, nutty curmudgeons. They're just a centimeter short of full-blown crazy.

Not all, but waaaaaaayyy too many.

So I wonder how "responsible" these gun-owners could really, truly be. Oftentimes they don't seem "weak" at all but bullies themselves. I don't get the sense that they really want to protect themselves so much as intimidate others.

I'm pro-guns but I must say, even I look at a lot of my fellow pro-gun people and gotta wonder....

In every state in which it's been studied, people with concealed carry permits commit far fewer crimes than those without.

Sorry you have had those experiences. My experience as a gun owner has actually be exactly the opposite. Virtually every gun owner I've encountered, whether at the range, at a training class, or in my personal life, has been not just responsible, but hyper-responsible when it comes to firearms and very focused on following the law. One could, I suppose, make similar claims about "anti-gun rights" zealots. They tend to be hysterical about the issue, engage in name calling and ad hominem attacks, and often seem quite angry. I wonder whether that has something to do with why they so fear gun ownership. Perhaps its a matter of projection, to use a psychology term.

Yes, pray do tell us, Joe Coscarelli. How is their position "extreme?" Extreme from your view? Extreme from the perspective of the brady campaign? I tell you, it is not extreme. If it were, we would no longer have a second amendment to the constitution protecting the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Why is the JPFO's position "extreme"? Because you disagree with it? They are citing what they purport to be historical facts regarding gun control imposed by the Nazis and other tyrranical regimes and comparing that, accurately in my view, to Bloomberg's incessant efforts to severely restrict, if not eliminate, private ownership of guns. If you can intelligently dispute those facts, then please do so. Calling them "extreme" adds nothing to the discussion.

The fact is, the Jewish religion does recognize that every person, when faced with a threat to her life, has a G-d given right to defend herself. A firearm is the most effective way of doing so. I am certain the JPFO would agree that firearms should be kept out of the hands of convicted violent felons and the mentally ill. Unfortunately, Mayor Bloomberg's gun agenda goes way beyond that. While framing his gun control strategies as "reasonable" and "sensible", his true agenda is to make it as difficult as possible for anyone, no matter how law abiding, to own a firearm. How do I know this? Try to buy a gun (legally) in NYC and you'll see what I mean. To make matters worse, wealthy, connected individuals (Donald Trump, Howard Stern, various financial executives) routinely obtain concealed carry permits, something "ordinary citizens" would never be granted. Kudos to the JPFO for calling out Mayor Bloomberg on this important issue.
