Virginity Is Hot, Lesbianism Is Hotter, and Some Adults Will Never Have Sex

Teens are either having less sex, or lying about it more. According to a somewhat surprising new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, the percentage of 15 to 24-year-old men who "had never had any form of sexual contact with another person" has increased to 27 percent, from 22 percent in 2002. Women in that age bracket who'd never had kind of sex was at 29 percent, from 22 percent. Have kids been scared abstinent by Teen Mom? Or, are the shocking and horrifying studies that seem to indicate that teens are all growing up way too fast incorrect, or at the very least, slanted to prove a point? It's hard to know.

As for the other side of the coin, 2 percent of women and 3 percent of men fell into the category of the 25- to 44-year-old virgin, and 11 percent of women and 10 percent of men in that age group had never had oral sex.

More than a third of all people had had anal sex with an opposite-sex partner. And women aged 15 to 44 were more than twice as likely to have had a same-sex experience than had men in that age bracket. (Women who'd had four or more partners in their lifetime had an increased likelihood of having at least one female sexual partner.) These stats skewed with social-economic levels, though maybe not in the way you'd think:

According to Anjani Chandra, lead author of the study,

"Among men, there's more same-sex activity among higher-educated men. And for women, the highest level of same-sex activity was reported by those with less education."

But, perhaps most of all, you can't really stereotype with sex.

"It's important to realize there are not separate groups of sexual people," she says. "You can't just think 'Here are the heterosexual people; here are the homosexual people.' People draw their partners from all different places. There are not necessarily clear boundaries between the population groups that engage in this behavior or that behavior."

Unless, of course, you're talking about a 40-year-old man who's never had sex, in which case, he clearly wears polo shirts and looks like that dude from The Office.
