Drowned Children Funeral Turns Dramatic as Family Grieves

The three children killed along with their mother, Lashanda Armstrong, when she drove into the Hudson River earlier this month were laid to rest on Monday, but not peacefully. Their father Jean Pierre provided the funeral home with an exclusive invite-list barring members of the mother's family. "This side of the family matters too," a cousin of the deceased yelled. "It's not fair! You know it's wrong!" Lashanda argued with Jean Pierre about the order of protection she had filed against him, as well as his sleeping around, leading her family to blame the deaths on Jean Pierre. "He's carrying on so [much] in there, screaming and hollering. The guilt is filling him up," the relative said on her way out. "Treat the mother right! Don't abuse! Pay child support! You're supposed to take care of people when they're alive!" 11-month Lainaina, 2-year-old Lance and 5-year-old Landen all drowned, while a fourth child, Lashaun, 10, climbed to safety. [NYDN, NYP]
