Finally, a List of Who You Have to Blow in the New York State Senate to Get Gay Marriage

blowcoverright.jpg
Paul Schindler of Gay City News has put together a great scorecard of how everyone stands on gay marriage in the state Senate, which is where the issue will be decided.

Senator Tom Duane's bill needs 32 votes. Currently, 26 Democrats and zero Republicans publicly support it. Those Log Cabin Republicans who just joined New Yorkers United for Marriage will have their work cut out for them in changing some minds. But so will the Democrats.

Gay City News says there are five currently uncommitted votes: Democrats Joe Addabbo and Shirley Huntley, and Republicans James Alesi, Joseph Griffo and Greg Ball. Brooklyn Democrat Carl Kruger, under a federal investigation for corruption, is still a public no, apparently, despite having been outed by the Post.

The group Connecting Rainbows had some fun with one of those swing votes yesterday — Shirley Huntley of Queens — by visiting her office. They took her to task for claiming to have marched with Martin Luther King Jr. for civil rights in Selma while refusing to support equal rights for gay people in New York.

Huntley says she's undecided, a position she expressed to the Voice for weeks in 2009 before ultimately voting "no."

Am I the only one truly sick and tired of the gay community and their nazi tactics? Anyone who disagrees with them is perscuted within an inch of their life. There are 15 cancers specific to gay and bisexual men because of the kind of sex they have. The rate of suicide is 5 times higher for them than any other group and not because of lack of tolerance. AIDS could at the very least be stopped if men would stay out of each other's rectum but of course anytime anyone brings these fact, checkable facts, mind you, up, they are labeled racist, bigots and homophobes. In Mass they ruled against the Dept of Health when they spoke out against the very real and dangerous health issues that would ensue if gay marriage was allowed. In Washington DC, they totally ignored the testimony of an infectious disease expert when she tried to tell them the dangers of allowing men to marry men. People better wake and and smell the coffee on this issue or we will be like Mass. Teaching grade schools kids that its okay to be gay.

Society wide prejudice can definitely affect a group's well being, as you evilgelical Christsharians will find out when we pass laws saying you can't marry, adopt, serve openly or be protected from arbitrary discrimination.

BTW, AIDS is overwhelmingly a disease of heterosexuals now, although you don't care because you're also sure to be a racist, imo. Praiz!

* Men having sex with men (MSM) account for nearly half of the more than one million people living with HIV in the U.S. (48%, or an estimated 532,000 total persons).* MSM account for more than half of all new HIV infections in the U.S. each year (53%, or an estimated 28,700 infections).* While CDC estimates that MSM account for just 4 percent of the U.S. male population aged 13 and older, the rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM in the U.S. is more than 44 times that of other men (range: 522–989 per 100,000 MSM vs. 12 per 100,000 other men).* MSM are the only risk group in the U.S. in which new HIV infections are increasing. While new infections have declined among both heterosexuals and injection drug users, the annual number of new HIV infections among MSM has been steadily increasing since the early 1990s.

Hey cretin, you're racist as I knew because people in Africa don't count to you. AIDS is overwhelmingly a disease of heterosexuals.

Rather than your sexually disordered suggestion of enforced silence and bigotry, HIV transmission could best be reduced by effective sex ed and safer sex ed (condoms for anal and vaginal intercourse, str8 and gay) and by enfranchising as many people as possible to have an equal stake in this far too talibangelical society. Praiz!

By encouraging traditional marriage and discouraging any talk about SSM and homosexuality - male or female - in schools, we help impressionable youth, particularly adolescents, from experimenting with same-sex behavior and the host of diseases with which it is associated.

Aside from diseases, there are larger societal changes that legalizing SSM brings, most notably an even higher incidence of out-of-wedlock childbirths spawned by the dissociation of marriage and marital procreation.

Which part of disallowing marriage will lower infection rates?

Since lesbians have the lowest instance of HIV of any demographic should they be allowed to marry?

from the avert.org the world's most popular AIDS websiteIn the USA, the UK, and a number of other European countries, HIV and AIDS have affected young gay men more than any other group of people. In the UK and USA especially, the percentage of young gay men who have been infected with HIV and the percentage with AIDS is much higher than other groups such as heterosexual people or children.

In the USA, it is estimated that nearly 255,000 men who have sex with men were living with HIV/AIDS in 2007, and nearly 5,400 had died. Around 48% of all people diagnosed with AIDS in America in 2007 were probably exposed to HIV through male-to-male sexual contact.1 In the UK, by the end of June 2009, around 45,947 diagnoses of HIV had been in men who had probably become infected through sex with another man. 53% of these men were aged below 35.2

There are also other parts of the world where men who have sex with men, many of whom do not identify themselves as gay, are affected by HIV. For example, the primary HIV transmission route in Latin America is sex between men. In Brazil, men who have sex with men accounted for 40% of all AIDS diagnoses among males between 2000 and 2005.3 In some cities in Colombia, estimates of HIV prevalence among men who have sex with men range from 10% to 25%.4

Despite the continuing impact of HIV & AIDS there are signs that awareness is waning among young people. For example, research with British teenagers has shown decreasing awareness of HIV & AIDS.5 The same pattern of increasing prevalence and decreasing awareness exists for STIs as a whole and many young people, including young gay men, may underestimate how likely they are to be exposed to sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. There is also evidence that in some places, even where they are otherwise well-informed about HIV and STIs, young people do not believe that they are vulnerable to contracting them.6

In the UK the numbers of young people with chlamydia, gonorrhea and genital herpes has risen by more than 100% since the 1990s. 7
