Navy Tests Laser Gun, Laser Gun Works [Video]

The U.S. Navy fired a high-energy laser from a warship off of California to ignite a small boat on fire, the BBC reports. Laser technology has been tested for decades, but strikes over water have always been difficult due to dense ocean air reducing the beam's power. As the above video proves, sea air ain't stopping us from making dinghies burn no more. The aim is to eventually equip military vessels with this technology. Our only recommendation to the Navy; please make sure the lasers go "Zap!" [BBC]
