New York Serial Killer Hunt is On: Police 'Looking at Somebody'

The "Long Island Ripper," as the New York Post is calling him, may be responsible for both the Atlantic City prostitute slayings in 2006 and the recent rash of bodies turning up since December of last year around Ocean Parkway and Gilgo Beach on Long Island. Eight bodies have been found along the shore in all -- three on Monday -- in what could be the third set of Long Island prostitute serial murders in the last 20 years. Though reports on any leads were previously almost nonexistent, the Post is now saying that police are "looking at somebody, though few additional details were given. The link between the New Jersey killings and the Long Island ones seems to be the key.

The Post reports that one of the New Jersey victims, also a prostitute, had been living in Long Island when she hopped a bus to Atlantic City, never to be heard from again.

But if it is one person, he changed his plan along the way, with the four Craigslist prostitutes identified found so far found wrapped in burlap, and the other bodies seemingly dumped differently, though no timestamp has been given to the latest four corpses discovered. "We don't know their sex, we don't know their age, we don't know anything about them," said the Suffolk Police Commissioner.

He added, "We tell people they should be careful with any contact they make with strangers, especially women involved in the escort business."
