Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger, body builder turned actor turned businessman, announced he would be running for California's 2003 gubernatorial election on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, stating, "I will pump up Sacramento"? Going on eight years later, it doesn't really surprise us that his next career move involves a TV cartoon series named The Governator.

Schwarzenegger announced his return to the screen at the MipTV conference at Cannes today, stating, "You will see more action in this series than you have ever seen before, but combined with comedy."

According to Schwarzenegger, the show is a collaboration between POW! Entertainment, headed by Stan Lee; comic book publisher Archie Comics; A Squared Entertainment; and Schwarzenegger himself. It's based loosely around his recent political stint. The Governator will feature Arnie, a post-governor action figure who fights crime before dinner time.

But he doesn't want it to be just a kids cartoon series, Schwarzenegger told the Cannes conference audience. Eventually, it will span the lengths of comic books and a 3D movie as well. Triple threat, if you will.

"I was looking for, when I am finished with politics, to come up with something that would be a big surprise," Schwarzenegger said. "Everyone has been 'Wow, I didn't expect that at all.'"

Really, Arnie? We're not so sure about that.
