Young Girl Becomes Second Busted in Head Scarf Hate Crime
Krystal Callender, a 13-year-old Staten Island girl, became the second kid busted by the Hate Crimes Task Force for attempted robbery, felony assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment for bullying a Muslim classmate for two months, the New York Post reports. In the most physical of the allegations, Callender and Osman Daramy are accused of pushing the other 13-year-old girl down into snow and beating her up while trying to remove her hijab. These are the same troubled kids that already got caught robbing a pizza deliveryman in the school parking lot.

Callender was arraigned over the weekend in Family Court, but was not held. She is due back in court on Wednesday, while Osman's already-long rap sheet kept him locked up without bail until his own appearance tomorrow.
All three children involved attend Dreyfus Intermediate School, which has the third-highest suspension rate in Staten Island.
